A group of Coalwood lady's got together and decided to have a Coalwood Reunion for the people of Sawmill, Snakeroot and Mudhole. Those on the committee were: Mary Hudson, Rosa Webster, Carrie Spraggins, Sandy Tolliver and Patsey Perdue. On Friday, May 26, 2006 refreshments and dancing was held at Raymond's in Welch. There were more than 80 attending Friday evening and over 100 on Saturday at the Mt. Airy Baptist Church in Six at Coalwood. My wife and I had the priviledge of attending this wonderful reunion on Friday night. I got to see people I grew up with and had not seen some of them for over 30 years. It was a wonderful evening. The food was great and Chicago Jim provided the music. But the best part was just being there, seeing old and renewed friendships and listening to the memories of growing up in Coalwood. Rev. H. Spraggins opened the program with prayer. Mr. Baker, Mr. Griffin and Mr. Cannon spoke about their memories of growing up in Coalwood. All said they were very lucky to grow up in this town and woudn't change one day of their lives living there. The values of love, family, and education has sustained them all the days of their lives. No other place to be but in Coalwood, WV.
